Pedors Orthopedic Shoes for Women – Part 1

Just as we promised here at the Diabetic Shoes HuB, we’ve made some additions to the already popular catalog of diabetic shoes for women. All of the new shoes are from the Pedors line of orthopedic footwear. We have added quite a bit so in order to talk about all of them, we need to split this post into two different parts. So without further delay, here are the newest items to an all-star cast:

The ever-so-comfy Pedors Clogs in beige and the Pedors Clogs in Black are lightweight clogs and are the premier shoe for comfort, style and support for women. We have also added the Pedors version of the popular Mary Jane Shoes in black along with the Mary Jane Shoes in beige which were designed specifically for people with Diabetes and Arthritis related foot problems.

*edit: Jan. 19th, 2010 – Pedors has informed us that the Mary Jane shoes have been discontinued.

But we didn’t stop there. Pedors also came out with a more personalized version of the Mary Jane shoes for women with the black Mary Jane II Shoes and the beige Mary Jane II shoes. These Mary Jane shoes for women are a stretch version of the classic Mary Jane with an adjustable strap for added support. Another favorite among the Pedors crowd is the Vienna shoe. The orthopedic shoes come in Veinna beige, Vienna black, and Vienna brown. The Pedors Vienna shoes are a mix of elegant style with all the comfort associated with the ever-so-popular Pedors brand.

Those are all of the product additions for now, but be ready for part-two of this post coming very soon.

Healthy Thanksgiving Options

Have you put any thought into the big meal for this year’s Thanksgiving feast? I know this may sounds a bit corny, but Tofurky is actually a great option for a diabetic that wants to enjoy the meal and watch their diet. I went vegan myself for a couple of years and I actually did have a vegan Thanksgiving. It was one of the best ones I’ve ever had because of the energized feeling I got the night of and morning after. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some turkey and ham, but after the tofurky and vegan stuffing I felt like I could conquer the world, not just sleep for six days. Wow, that was a long sentence but anyway, you get the point.

Among the new comers in the men’s category are the Pedors Stretch Walker Speed Lace in White and the Pedors Stretch Walker Speed Lace in Black. The stretch walkers feature a seamless stretchable forefoot for increased comfort. There is also a High Top Boot which is a popular among outdoor enthusiasts. The Men’s Oxford Lace-Up is a versatile option that is casual enough to dress down but professional enough to dress up. We have also added the Pedors Stretch Walker Quick Closure in White and the Pedors Stretch Walker Quick Closer in Black which differ from their speed lace counterparts in that they are the ideal shoe for active diabetics on the go with their fast hook-and-loop closure system. And then of course, who could forget about the Pedors Classic Beige along with the Pedors Classic Black? These shoes are the original comfy shoe that serve as ideal orthopedic slippers with enough support to properly care for anyone with foot related problems.

We are proud to have been able to add Pedors as a partner to the Diabetic Shoes HuB. The items listed above are just a small sample of what is to come in the near future. Keep an eye out on the retail site as well as this blog for additions to the women’s category coming very soon!

Diabetes Directories

Diabetes directories serve as a great source of information for those individuals seeking quality sites and resources that are all in the same place. The sites of this caliber usually link to other pages regarding information, products, blogs, etc. A few of the good ones I have seen and used are the diabetes supply page in the Yahoo directory and the Diabetes Directory1 site about diabetes shoes. The health care page at Business.com has some pretty good information as well but this page is more general to health care related items. I would love to hear of other good directories out there that offer valuable information. If I’ve missed one that you know of, let me know by leaving a comment below.

American Diabetes Month – there is still time to get involved

Aside from spreading the word about the complications of diabetes, there are other things you can do to get involved during American Diabetes Month. It is important to help and raise awareness and help the general public to understand why they should care about diabetes. As an added asset to volunteers around the country, the America Diabetes Association has put together a map of the United States laying out local activities by state so that you can get involved with events in your area. We’re only halfway through the month so there is still time to do your part and help the cause.

Thanksgiving meals – yet another reason to begin a steady workout regimen

Alright, so it’s bad enough that it’s starting to get cold outside and a bit tougher to get out for a walk or a jog in the neighborhood, but now that Thanksgiving and holiday meals are around the corner, this may just be the most critical time to being a workout routine if you haven’t already. If it’s snowing outside then no worries, you can still find a way to sit and be fit. Maybe start with a few crunches here and there or maybe even a few pushups. The main thing is to get your blood flowing and your heart-rate up. Do this on a constant basis and your body will thank you in the long run.

Diabetic Socks – A Great Gift for The Holiday Season

It’s hard to ignore the financial situation in today’s markets with the extended exposure Wall Street is getting lately on everything from traditional local news stations to Yahoo.com’s homepage. And with the Holidays just around the corner, it takes a toll on wallets during the gift giving season.

Luckily, there are practical gifts available that you know your loved ones will use that you won’t have to give an arm and a leg for. The orthopedic socks from the Diabetic Shoes HuB are manufactured from Holofiber. Holofiber has been clinically proven to increase oxygen levels in the blood by up to 29.9% and the increased oxygen levels can aid in healing and tissue recovery. Make this year’s stocking stuffer an item that you not only know they’ll use, but they’ll also benefit from in a healing perspective.

Freedom Diabetic Insoles

We have another great pair of shoe inserts to feature today for the post. Our most popular item for the month of October was the freedom diabetes insoles which are the insoles that massage your feet. Think it sounds kooky? Well these shoe inserts were designed and engineered to protect and accommodate insensitive feet so you’ll know that you’ll have an outstanding fit. The full contact Diabetic Insoles feature a deeply cupped, stabilizing heel and a moderate longitudinal arch that combine to provide you with relief no matter what your foot condition is. These are just one of the many supportive insoles from our diabetes inserts category. These make great holiday gifts and a very practical items at prices that won’t break your wallet.

Are you doing your part to raise diabetes awareness?

First of all, I’d like to start this post by thanking all of you who voted. Many voters came out and let their voice be heard standing in line for hours only to take five minutes to cast fill out their ballot. Regardless of who you voted for and if your candidate won, it really was a great day for our country.

Now we’re on to the theme behind the month: increasing awareness of diabetes to the nation. November is American Diabetes Month and it’s not a difficult thing to do. The complications involved with the disease should be communicated so that others understand why you may need to take an insulin shot or require a special type of shoe. Conveying these simple messages may help others to better understand your lifestyle as well as decrease the chance that the percentage of those diagnosed with diabetes may decrease in the future.

Every Vote Counts!

Make sure you head to your nearest polling location and place your vote for our next great leader today! This is a day for history and with the status of our economy, it’ll be up to the next President to author the next few chapters of the nation.

Be sure to get your say in and it doesn’t matter who you vote for, as long as you’re voting for the leader you believe in.

American Diabetes Month

So I hope you had a great Halloween last night. You’ll have to excuse the time display. By the time I published my last post it said November 1 but the night was just beginning (around 5 pm) here in Arizona. I know I can change the time settings but I didn’t think it was a big deal. If there are any readers out there who would like me to update the time then let me know.

Well it came, it’s November and it’s about us raising diabetes awareness. It’s time for us to educate the public on the complications and lifestyle changes involved with diabetes but most importantly, it’s time for us to explain to them why they should know more about the disease. A heightened awareness of diabetes from the general public can decrease the risk factors as well as the percentage of the population getting the disease.
